“So what are your impressions?”

This question usually comes after you’ve briefed a senior colleague of a case history. The senior colleague expects that your reasoning for every decision you take on the patient be cogent enough to merit your level of climb on the professional ladder.So normally, the expectations vary depending on who he/she is dealing with.

To the student, this question is the golden moment. It is showtime! It is a penalty awarded at the 91st minute! It is the blowmankiller encounter. It is the time and hour to spew knowledge, exhibit medical dexterity and make a good impression.😎

Remember this at all times. You have impressed He that matters already. Do your strut confidently and voila! You’ll smile at the results.

So there I was before my team coordinator. I had rattled my history waiting for the obvious next. Someone had given me a hint of the diagnosis. So come and see Opana. Ready to display! Gyae! I started running my mouth.

“I’m thinking it’s intussusception.” I continued, “There’s colicky abdominal pain of a 4-day duration, profuse vomiting , fever not sufficiently relieved by antipyretics, red currant jelly stool…”

” Erh heh? What else?”

Oh Mister Man! I just gave you my golden shot and that’s all you could say? I stood there in disbelief like;

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚This man paa?!!  Thankfully, it was non-scoring situation. After disgracing myself like that, I do not want to imagine it being otherwise..πŸ˜‚

But then, once upon a time there was a life/death situation. God saw me make a mess of myself. Despite His obvious disgust, gave me hints in subtlety, nudging me gently to the right as I aggressively drove myself to the left. He picked me back up anyway after I skid off the road. Then He called me His friend. In fact, to date, He still thinks I’m a big deal! I mean who does that? 😣

Titus 3:3-4New International Version (NIV)

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared,

Until I came to a full realisation of this truth, new environments and meeting new people was a headache. It isn’t anymore. I mean, someone more powerful, more beautiful, more intelligent and of a better stature saw me in my worst and still kept a good impression of me. Jesus holds me in high esteem. He loves me through it all.😍 Need I worry about auxiliary “ first impressions?”

Titus 3:5-7New International Version (NIV)

 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior,so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs, having the hope of eternal life.

I know it gets dicey at times when you’re not sure if you’d match expectations. When you think you could be judged unfairly based solely on first impressions.

Remember this at all times. You have impressed He that matters already. Do your strut confidently and voila! You’ll smile at the results.πŸ˜‰

Something worth munching on, innit?
